CoastieWife asked:

I usually have pretty clear skin, but since you’re not allowed to use any of the acne washes with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, I look like I’m going through puberty again! What cleansers have you guys used that are safe and effective during pregnancy?

Liz asked:

I’ve always had problems with my skin, since I was about 11.
But actually, my acne improved with pregnancy. Aside from the scars that I had, I only have a few blemishes now.

Anyone else experience this odd luck? I don’t want it to go away! lol

Due March 9th, 2010 asked:

Know any at-home-remedies?
I heard that white toothpaste can help… I have some organic toothpaste and regular toothpaste. Does it have to have a certain product or chemical in it that I should look for that helps relieve the acne?
Saint Radio: I just read online that green tea can help acne as well. People said that they applied a wet teabag to their face. I just tried it and it felt like my skin could finally breathe! I’ll try it for awhile and see if I notice any results.

What You Must Know About Teen Acne Problems

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

If you know the causes of pimples, you can better understand the treatment of teen acne problems. When we think of teens, we think of acne. The causes of acne can be related to being a teenager, such as raging hormones and puberty. However, some causes are related to gender, genetics, and skin type.

1. Washing your face 2 or three times a day helps control oil that can cause acne. Soap containing salicylic acid controls acne by exfoliating the top skin layer. This prevents oil from clogging pores making skin look healthier. Salicylic acid is a weakened form of beta-hydroxy, which is used in other treatments such as dandruff. The percentage of beta-hydroxy depends on what is being treated. Soaps containing salicylic acid can dry the skin if skin is sensitive so try using a moisturizer that does not contain oil.

2. Hormones can contribute highly to acne surges. For boys in the puberty stage, testosterone  surges can causes increased oil production, therefore, increasing the likelihood of acne. For  young girls, the hormones surges are the same but the hormone that causes acne is different.  Some forms of birth control have been proven successful in decreasing acne in females. Young men may need to wash their faces more than once a day to control the acne caused by hormones and puberty.

3. In some more severe cases of acne, antibiotics and photo therapy may be needed. Blocked pores are a perfect place for bacteria to grow. This causes pain inflammation and infection. If a dermatologist orders antibiotics, they may also order photo therapy to improve the outcome.

4. Oil blotters and mattifiers are a great way to take care of excess oil on the face cosmetically. However, they also control excess oil by removing it from the face, preventing blocked pores. These items are becoming more popular and can be used frequently through out the day with out smudging make-up.

5. The best treatment for pimple spots is a benzoyl peroxide cream. While salicylic acid exfoliates the skin, benzoyl peroxide kills the bacteria that rises up from the blocked pores. This cream can be very drying to the skin, so it is not recommended to be used all over the face every day.

6. There are other ways to prevent and treat acne besides just creams and soaps. Some natural remedies that have been researched are the use of vitamins to treat acne.  Vitamin A, some of the B vitamins and zinc have shown some improvement in acne. These recommendations need to be followed by a doctor to prevent accidently overdosing.

What You Must Understand About Teen Acne Troubles

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

If you know the causes of pimples, you can better understand the treatment of teenager acne problems. When we think of teens, we think of acne. Though it is not much dangerous as the name “acne” looks, the aftermaths of the disease such as scars, are really disturbing teens a lot and affect their self esteem. As we all know, when the present generation is giving much importance to beauty and health, anything like this will be a real problem.

1. With the advancement in medical industry, a lot of solutions have come up to treat teen acne problems up to an extent. Washing your face 2 or three times a day helps control oil that can cause acne. Soap containing salicylic acid controls acne by exfoliating the top skin layer. This prevents oil from clogging pores making skin look healthier.

3. Teen acne problems occur more often than most other forms of acne, in any other stage of life. It is a period in human development where frequent changes happen to the body, especially in case of gender related developments. When children are about to reach maturity, hormonal production, that is often related to gender, can also create an increase in the possibility of having problems; it is one among the major reasons behind teen acne problems.

4. A number of other causes include the unexpected factors such as Genetic heredity. If the parents or grandparents were having any such problems, the children are also having the chance to become a victim of teen acne. However, it can be controlled only when the modern medical practices are able to make changes in the genetic code of the going-to-be-born child.

5. The best treatment for pimple spots is a benzoyl peroxide cream. While salicylic acid exfoliates the skin, benzoyl peroxide kills the bacteria that rises up from the blocked pores. This cream can be very drying to the skin, so it is not recommended to be used all over the face every day.

lilmamaOH asked:

Hi! Im still waiting to see if I get a BFP (testing tomorrow I think :)

I was wondering if any of ya’ll had acne as an early symptom OR as something that showed up during your pregnancy. I have incredibly clear skin, and since a bit before April 11th (when I experienced 2 days of spotting) my skin has absolutely EXPLODED into horribly painful cystic acne. NONE of it has gone down…

Did any of ya’ll experience acne of any sort with your BFP?

So I’m 8 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I have so much acne. I didn’t have acne before the pregnancy. The most I would get is ONE pimple around the time of the month. I’m so sad. I know it’s normal to have acne during pregnancy because of the hormones. My question is, has this happened to you and what can I do to make it a little better???
